The Indispensable Guide to Intermittent Fasting: Lose Weight & Live Long without Starving, Counting Calories or Giving Up Your Favorite Foods
I loved reading the rich history of fasting, and learning of the MANY benefits to occur throughout our bodies. I find it liberating that this way of eating is flexible and can be tailored to fit each of our lifestyles.I know Deneen Tomayko to be a highly intelligent, health-conscious and progressively thinking health professional, as well as a beautiful human being. I appreciate and admire Deneen for taking the time to research, personally experience, and compile this fascinating information into a book from which we may all greatly benefit.
I will be directing my friends and family to Feast. Fast. Flourish. Deneen puts the science and history of intermittent fasting simply. The book feels like a conversation. It’s transparent, honest and passionate. After a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, a slough of heavy medications and diet experiments with no sustained improvement to my inflammation. Deneen helped me understand the human body, my body, it’s physiology and nutrition; the keys I’d been missing. I began following a ketogenic way of eating + intermittent fasting 18 months ago. Not only am I in remission, I am off all medication. My body is toned, I am energized and no longer nutrient deficient. Blood panels taken throughout this transition show my inflammatory markers are normal for the fire time since I was 15 (2005). Intermittent fasting has broken the cycle. Eating has become a truly rewarding and pleasurable ritual instead of a robotic and mindless habit. I no longer experience crashes, head fog or gastric upset. My joint pain is gone, endometriosis gone, fibromyalgia gone, migraines gone, cystic acne gone, libido normal, mood stable & weight down 15lbs. When my friends fuss about what they might miss when considering intermittent fasting (or a low carb lifestyle) I tell them the only thing they’ll lose is pain and shame. Feast. Fast. Flourish. Will ignite you! - Start reading, start healing.
The book is wonderful! Not too much, not too little, just right…All the information you need to know about fasting in one easily accessible format. Written in such a way, anyone can understand the basic science behind intermittent fasting. I have been practicing intermittent fasting for about about 6 months but was looking for more research. I have never been a science y person; however I was interested educating myself. Intermittent fasting can help teach your body to use the food it consumes more efficiently, and your body can learn to burn fat as fuel. I was also surprised to learn of the many health benefits of intermittent fasting, lower the risk of various diseases, including dementia, heart disease, diabetes and cancer…plus make weight loss easier. The book is well worth a read if you are interested in becoming healthier and living longer.
